The company
GELID Solutions was founded in 2008 by Gebhard Scherrer and VC Tran, who had both spent years in thermal engineering before setting up on their own. The company is based in Hong Kong, with Swiss management and manufacturing across Mainland China and Taiwan. The tagline it has used since the beginning — best-in-class products for gamers and tech-enthusiasts — is an unusually honest description of the customer: someone who has already decided the stock cooler is not good enough.
The product that established the name is GC-Extreme, a non-curing compound launched in 2009 that stays workable at subzero temperatures. That made it the default choice for competitive overclockers working under liquid nitrogen, a tiny audience whose habits filter down to everyone else. IcyPad arrived in 2013 and the SpeedTouch fan controller in 2014, and the GP thermal pad series has grown steadily ever since, one sheet size at a time.
Why this catalog leads with interface materials
