Two double-sided vests clamp over standard DIMMs, adding metal surface area on each face, and an RGB module on top runs its own lighting cycle from an ordinary 3-pin fan connector. No software, no proprietary controller, no driver.
The reason this kit is simple is that it does not join anyone lighting ecosystem. It draws power from a standard 3-pin fan connector and cycles through its modes automatically. You give up synchronization with the rest of the machine and you gain a part that works on any motherboard made in the last fifteen years.
The heatsink wraps both faces of the DIMM rather than clipping to one, which matters because memory chips are usually populated on both sides. Contact on a single face leaves half the package cooling through the board, which is the slow way out.
Standard desktop DIMMs share enough of their outline that one vest design covers three generations. Modules that already carry a tall decorative heat spreader are the exception: strip that first or leave it be, since stacking a vest over an existing spreader adds an air gap rather than a cooling path.
Anything added to a memory module grows upward, and the first slot usually sits under the edge of a tower cooler. Measure the distance from the top of your DIMMs to the nearest obstruction before ordering, because a memory heatsink is the least useful reason to have to remove a cooler.
