The full-size air cooler of the range, in its fifth revision. Tranquillo takes four heatpipes in direct contact with the processor, runs a 120 mm PWM fan over a taller fin stack, and is rated for a 150 W thermal design power. It supports LGA1700 and AM4 alongside a long list of earlier sockets.

  1. What 150 W of capability means in practice

That figure covers mainstream processors running at their normal limits, including the ones that briefly draw well above their nominal rating during a boost. It is not a cooler for a chip being pushed to its absolute edge, and it is comfortably more than most desktop builds will ever ask for.

  2. Four pipes and a taller stack

Doubling the heatpipes over the compact model does two things: it spreads the load across more parallel paths out of the base, and it feeds a larger fin area that the 120 mm fan can work across at low speed. Capacity in an air cooler is mostly surface area, and surface area is mostly height.

  3. Check clearance before ordering

A tower cooler of this class needs headroom to the side panel and clearance over the first memory slot. Measure the case, look at the height of your memory modules, and check the socket position on the board. These three numbers decide whether any air cooler fits, and none of them appear on a product page.

  4. Sockets from LGA775 to LGA1700

Support runs across AM2 through AM4 and FM1 and FM2 on the AMD side, and LGA775, 1150, 1151, 1155, 1156, 1200, 1366, 2011, 2011-v3, 2066 and 1700 on the Intel side. For anyone reviving an older platform, that breadth is often more useful than the headline wattage.
