Lighting headers are scarcer than lighting devices. This Y-shaped splitter takes one addressable RGB header and branches it to four outputs, with five male plug adapters in the box so it can meet whatever connector your fans or strips arrived with. The cable is roughly 300 mm long and sleeved.

  1. Four devices, one header, one pattern

Everything on the splitter receives the same data stream, which means the four devices display the same effect in the same phase. For a matched set of fans that is exactly the intent. For devices you wanted to light on their own schedule it is not, and no splitter will change that.

  2. Five volts and three pins

Addressable RGB runs on a 5 V three-pin header with one pin blanked, and it is not interchangeable with the 12 V four-pin standard despite the connectors looking similar. Plugging one into the other is the classic way to destroy a strip. Check the marking on the board before anything goes in.

  3. Adapters for mismatched plugs

Manufacturers use several physical connectors for the same electrical standard, which is why the plug adapters are in the box. They turn a compatibility problem into a five-minute job, and they are the reason a splitter like this is worth having in a build using parts from more than one brand.

  4. Total load on one header

A board header supplies limited current for lighting, and each fan or strip draws its share. Four devices is normally comfortable; four devices plus a chain of strips off the same header may not be. If lighting starts behaving oddly under load, this is the first thing to suspect.
