At 3 mm a sheet is as much a spacer as an interface, and the long thermal path it creates is exactly where a better compound pays for itself. This pack holds two 90 x 50 mm sheets of GP-Ultimate rated 15 W/mK, which is enough depth and area to finish a console, a compact build or a shrouded card in one go.

  1. The longest path gets the fastest material

Resistance through a pad rises with its depth, so a 3 mm piece starts at a disadvantage that no amount of careful fitting can undo. Choosing the 15 W/mK grade rather than the standard compound trims that penalty at the only point still open to you once the geometry of the gap is fixed.

  2. Two sheets for an assembly with several planes

Machines that need this depth rarely need it in one place. A shroud meets the board at one height, a chassis spreader at another, a shield on posts at a third. A single sheet covers one of those planes properly and leaves the others to be improvised, which is how jobs end up half finished.

  3. Making a template before the first cut

Lay paper over the area, press it onto the components and mark the outlines, then cut the paper and check it against the plate before touching the pad. Material this deep is too costly in volume to learn the shape by trial, and the paper version doubles as a record of what was fitted where.

  4. Soft, blue and still non-conductive

GP-Ultimate is the blue compound of the range, which makes it easy to recognize on a board opened a year later, and like the rest of the line it is electrically non-conductive, non-corrosive and does not harden. Depth changes the thermal arithmetic, not the handling rules.
