The gap that turns up most often on graphics cards, supplied in the 15 W/mK grade and on a sheet long enough to cover a full memory row without a joint. This 90 x 50 mm piece of GP-Ultimate at 1.5 mm is the combination that gets ordered for card repads more than any other in the line, and the reason is simply that it fits.

  1. One strip for a whole memory row

A 90 mm length reaches across the memory packages on most cards in a single piece. That is worth more than it appears on paper: a continuous strip clamps evenly, has no internal joints to trap air, and takes one cut instead of eight. The extra sheet length over the standard format is the reason.

  2. Higher conductivity where the gap is real

At 1.5 mm the filler is a meaningful part of the thermal path, so the difference between 12 and 15 W/mK is more visible here than it is at half a millimeter. Memory that sits at the edge of its comfortable range is the classic case for the better compound at this thickness.

  3. Verify the gap on your own card

Cards with the same name can ship with different cooler plates and different memory heights depending on the batch. Take the measurement yourself with feeler gauges or a depth gauge rather than repeating a figure from a thread. The whole point of choosing a good filler is undone by choosing the wrong height for it.

  4. Non-curing means the job stays fixed

This compound does not harden, dry out or bleed oil into the board over time, so a repad done properly stays done. That matters on a card that will run under load for years: a pad that hardens loses contact as the assembly expands and contracts, and the temperature creeps back up long after anyone remembers touching it.
