Check price and buyThe 92 mm size sits between the small equipment fans and the 120 mm standard, and it is what a great many compact cases and older tower coolers were built around. This one runs at 1500 rpm for 31.32 CFM with a maximum of 20 dBA and 1.05 mmH2O of static pressure, and it ships with rubber mounts instead of screws.
A steel screw is a direct path for motor vibration into a steel panel, which is why a fan that sounds fine in the hand can hum once it is bolted in. The supplied temperature-resistant rubber mounts break that path. They also make installation a matter of pulling four pegs through rather than balancing a screwdriver in a dark corner.
The 1.05 mmH2O figure describes how hard the fan can push against resistance. On an open case panel it barely matters. Behind a filter, a dense grille or the fins of a heatsink it decides whether the rated airflow is anything more than a number, which is why pressure is worth reading alongside CFM.
Small cases often shipped with 92 mm fans chosen on cost, running faster than they need to because the design assumed a worse impeller. Swapping in a modern one at 20 dBA usually drops the noise floor of the whole machine, since in a small case the fan is generally the loudest moving thing in it.
This is a three-pin fan, so speed is controlled by voltage rather than by a PWM signal. Most motherboards handle that on chassis headers, but a few only regulate four-pin fans and will run a three-pin at full speed permanently. Worth thirty seconds in the firmware to confirm.
