A 120 mm fan with a UV-reactive blue frame, for builds with an ultraviolet cathode or a blacklight strip where the point is how the machine looks with the side panel off. It runs at 1500 rpm across a 12 to 25 dBA range, comes with a 500 mm cable and includes four anti-vibration mounts.

  1. UV reactive rather than illuminated

This is not an RGB fan and there are no LEDs in it. The plastic itself fluoresces under an ultraviolet source, which produces a flat even glow from the whole frame instead of the point-lit look of an addressable fan. It needs a UV lamp in the case to do anything at all.

  2. A long cable is a practical detail

Five hundred millimeters reaches from a front mount to a header at the top of a board without an extension, which is the difference between routing a cable behind the tray and stretching one across the middle of the case. Extensions are cheap, but a cable that reaches is one fewer connector in the loop.

  3. Mounts in the box

The four anti-vibration mounts supplied with it replace screws entirely. That is worth having on any fan and particularly on a case panel, where the difference between a rubber-mounted and a bolted fan is often the whole audible character of the build.

  4. A period look, honestly described

UV lighting belongs to a particular era of case modding and it has aged into a style rather than out of one. If that is the build you are making, matching UV-reactive fans across the machine gives an evenness that mixed lighting never quite achieves.
