Check price and buyWhen the gap is three millimeters and the contact area is a hand span, nothing smaller will do. This 120 x 120 mm square is the largest and thickest piece of GP-Ultimate offered, rated 15 W/mK, and it exists for chassis spreaders, console shields and assemblies where a whole panel is doing the cooling.
Some designs make a metal panel part of the heatsink and rely on filler to close the distance. Those contact zones are broad and the gaps are generous, because the panel has to clear everything else on the board. A large thick square is the only practical way to cut a pad of that shape in one piece.
At 120 by 120 by 3 millimeters this holds more material than anything else here by a wide margin. For a workshop doing console repair or small-form-factor builds it is a stock item rather than a purchase for one job, and it will outlast several rounds of thinner sheets.
A three-millimeter path resists heat simply by being long, so the compound crossing it matters more than it would at half a millimeter. Where the gap cannot be reduced, the material is the only remaining variable, and 15 W/mK is the most this range offers.
With pieces this large, dry-fit the panel with the pads in place and check that every fastener still reaches its thread without force. Three millimeters of filler across a wide area produces real resistance, and finding that out with the screws half-started beats finding it out with a bowed panel.
