Check price and buyA modern desktop board can have power-delivery heatsinks on two sides of the socket, a chipset plate and a pair of drive shields, and most of those gaps are close to a millimeter. Two 120 x 20 mm strips of 15 W/mK GP-Ultimate cover that whole list in one sitting rather than in two orders a week apart.
It is unusual for a single board to need three or four different pad thicknesses. Once you have measured, most of the gaps tend to land in the same place, and a millimeter is the most common answer on desktop hardware. Buying that size in pairs matches how a bench actually consumes material.
Pads that have been under clamp for a few years are compressed, often hard, and usually stuck to the heatsink rather than the board. They are not worth recovering. Lift them with a plastic spudger, clean both faces with isopropyl and a lint-free cloth, and fit fresh material at the measured thickness.
With two strips in hand there is a temptation to double a thin piece to reach a deeper gap. Do not. Two pads pressed together add an interface in the middle of the path and never compress as one, so the result is worse than a single piece of the correct depth would have been.
Write the thickness on the liner before cutting and keep offcuts in labeled bags. Once the liners are off, a millimeter strip and a 1.5 mm strip are hard to tell apart by eye, and the next job starts with a caliper hunt instead of a cut.
